VACCINATIONS
Vaccinations are a vital step in preventative animal health care. Ā Our vets will review vaccines with every pet owner to help you make an educated decision as to what specific preventative measures are warranted based on your petās particular environment and lifestyle. We vaccinate against the most highly contagious diseases that pets in our state are exposed to and we use highly effective vaccines with a very low rate of side effects.
We will send you reminders when your pet is due for their vaccinations.
SURGERY
We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide that extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high risk patients. Our Pre-anesthetic blood work is highly recommended on all patients in order to determine the safest anesthesia for each individual pet. The exact anesthesia selected for use during surgery is determined by the doctor based on blood work, age, physical condition of the pet and the type of surgery. Our anesthetic nurses monitor your petās vital signs during all anesthetic procedures. Our trained nurses follow your pet from pre medication, into surgery, and through recovery. Your pet will have a fully qualified vet nurse with them from the moment they are admitted, to the time they go home.
REHABILITATION, ACUPUNCTURE & LASER
The aim of rehabilitation is to improve your animalās movement and function.Ā This in turn improves longevity and quality if life.
It does this by Ā focusing on non-pharmacological modalities such as, massage, stretching, laser, electrical stimulation, exercises to improve strength and range of motion.
Common conditions that would benefit from rehabilitation include:
- Post orthopaedic surgery management and return to function.
- Injury prevention and long term management.
- Osteoarthritis management in young and old patients.
- Neurological conditions.
- Acute and Chronic pain management.
Dr. Karina is currently available Tuesday mornings at Arana Hills for acupuncture. Online bookings available here.
IN-HOUSE PATHOLOGY
We have access to both in-house and external pathology services. Our in-house pathology equipment aids us in establishing the baseline health of our patients and to diagnose specific conditions.
Being able to carry out these procedures in our own clinicsĀ means the test processes are completely under our control, removing any possibility of degradation of samples during transport, contamination at external labs, or your petās samples being mixed up with those of another animal. Ā It also reduces the cost to the client.Ā In most cases we can have your petās test results back in just a few minutes!
Some tests are unable to be conducted in-house and must be done by an external laboratory.
ULTRASOUND
With our own ultrasound, our vets can gain a better understanding of what may be going on in certain patients.
Ultrasound scanning is a painless procedure that uses high frequency sound waves to produce images of organs and structures within the body.Ā When sound waves are aimed into the body, some are absorbed by body tissues and others bounce back. The sound waves that bounce back are measured by the ultrasound machine and are transformed into an image of a particular body area.
OPTHALMOLOGY
Most animals rely on their vision, more than any other sense to find out what is going on around them, so we aim to keep their eyes healthy.
We treat both simple and complex eye conditions, and have the diagnosticĀ capabilities to detect conditions including corneal ulcers, glaucoma, and other retinal diseases, by measuring tear production, staining the eye to ensure cornea health and measuring eye pressures.
DENTISTRY
Oral health is vitally important to the well-being of our companion pets.
Poor oral hygiene can impact on organs including the liver, kidneys, and heart. Left untreated dental disease can leads to loss of the bone surrounding the teeth, abscesses, tooth loss and chronic pain. We are dedicated to helping you keep your petās teeth healthy. We strongly believe in preventative dental care ā this means teeth cleaning before the gums become diseased. We provide a wide array of dental services including cleaning, polishing, digital dental radiography (x-rays), simple and surgical extractions, and treatment of periodontal disease.
